I recently came across the new Offline Warning Notifications feature in the Homey Mobile App, and I must say, it’s been a lifesaver!
As someone who’s always on the go, keeping track of my Homey Pro’s status used to be a constant worry. But now, with this feature, I can rest assured that I’ll be notified if my Homey goes offline—no matter where I am.
Here’s how it works: The Homey Cloud continuously monitors the connection status of your Homey. If it detects that your Homey hasn’t communicated with the cloud for about 5 minutes, it sends a push notification to the Owner of the Homey. This is incredibly useful because it alerts you to potential issues before they escalate—whether it’s a connectivity problem, a router malfunction, or even something as simple as a power outage.
What’s even better is that the notifications are smart enough to avoid false alarms. For instance, if your Homey is undergoing a normal restart or a firmware update, you won’t receive unnecessary notifications. And once your Homey reconnects, you’ll get another notification to let you know everything’s back to normal.
I’ve already put this feature to the test during a recent trip. I set up the notifications before leaving, and while I was away, my Homey went offline due to a temporary internet outage. The notification I received on my phone allowed me to address the issue promptly, ensuring my home remained secure and functional.
If you haven’t enabled this feature yet, I highly recommend giving it a try! It’s a small addition that makes a big difference in maintaining peace of mind for your smart home setup. ![]()
