Optimizing AC Control with Home Assistant and Tado

I’ve been diving into optimizing my smart home setup, particularly focusing on my air conditioning system. After experiencing some quirks with the Dry mode on my Daikin AC through Home Assistant, I decided to explore different configurations to get everything running smoothly.

Initially, I found that using Dry mode directly in Home Assistant didn’t stick—it would briefly work but then stop responding. This was frustrating, especially when trying to switch modes or adjust settings. However, I discovered a workaround by leveraging Tado Smart Schedule. By setting up a schedule with Dry mode and activating Auto Mode via Home Assistant, I was able to maintain consistent control over my AC.

Interestingly, my Hitachi AC behaves differently. It allows me to set Dry mode, adjust the temperature, and control the vertical swing directly through the Tado app, which is much more straightforward. This made me realize that compatibility can vary significantly between brands, even when using the same ecosystem.

For those looking to integrate multiple AC units or brands, I’d recommend experimenting with different apps and settings. For instance, using Tado Smart Schedule in conjunction with Home Assistant can provide a more seamless experience, especially if you’re dealing with mixed brands like I am.

I’d love to hear how others have optimized their AC setups—whether you’re using a single brand or mixing things up, sharing tips and tricks can help us all create more efficient and enjoyable smart homes!
