I’ve been on a journey to optimize my home lighting setup, and I wanted to share some insights and tips that might help others in a similar situation. ![]()
Earlier this year, I decided to upgrade my lighting system to something more modern and energy-efficient. I started with Govee LED lights, which have been a game-changer for me. Their vibrant colors and smooth dimming capabilities have completely transformed the ambiance of my living space. However, I quickly realized that the Govee app’s color customization options were somewhat limited to preset settings, which didn’t fully meet my needs. I reached out to Govee’s support team, and they mentioned that while the app currently doesn’t support multiple static colors in the main color section, they are considering adding this feature in future updates. This was great to hear, as it shows their commitment to improving user experience!
In addition to Govee, I’ve also integrated Shelly devices into my setup. The Shelly 2PM as a blind controller has been particularly impressive. I recently installed it to control my outdoor blinds, and it’s been working flawlessly. However, I did run into a calibration issue initially, where the % position functionality wasn’t responding correctly after calibration. After some troubleshooting and reaching out to the community, I discovered that resetting the device and recalibrating it slowly resolved the problem. Now, it’s a breeze to adjust the blinds from my phone or through voice commands!
One thing I’ve learned is the importance of balancing aesthetics with functionality. When redecorating my living room, I considered how the wall colors would interact with the lighting. A medium grey wall works well as a neutral base, but I’m thinking of adding a pop of color or some metallic accents to make the space feel more dynamic. The holographic wallpaper I saw recently would be a great way to add some visual interest while keeping the room cohesive with my Govee lights.
For anyone looking to integrate smart lighting into their home, my advice is to start small, experiment with different setups, and don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for support. Whether it’s troubleshooting calibration issues or seeking design inspiration, there’s a wealth of knowledge and camaraderie out there!
Cheers to making our homes smarter and more beautiful! ![]()
