I’ve been on a journey to optimize my home lighting setup, and I thought I’d share my experiences and tips with the community. My goal was to create a seamless integration between my Shelly devices and Philips Hue lights, allowing for more dynamic and efficient lighting control. Here’s how I approached it:First, I started by experimenting with the Shelly Plus and Shelly EM3 to monitor energy consumption and automate lighting based on real-time data. The ability to integrate these devices with my existing Hue setup was key. I found that using the Shelly app alongside Home Assistant made it easier to track energy usage and create meaningful automations. One of the challenges I faced was ensuring consistent brightness levels across different rooms. After some research, I discovered that adjusting the Hue light’s color temperature and brightness through Home Assistant templates provided a more uniform experience. For instance, setting a warmer color temperature during evenings and a cooler tone during the day has made a noticeable difference in comfort.Another thing I wanted to achieve was creating a scene where lights automatically adjust based on natural light levels. I ended up using a Shelly Plus with a light sensor to detect ambient light and trigger adjustments in the Hue lights. This setup has been especially useful during cloudy days when the lighting needs to compensate for reduced natural light.I’d love to hear from others who have tackled similar projects or have tips on optimizing lighting setups. What tools or techniques have you found most effective? Let’s keep the discussion going!
