Optimizing Mailbox Sensor Reliability in Cold Weather

I’ve been experimenting with improving the reliability of my ST contact sensor in my mailbox, especially during colder months when the button cell batteries seem to drain quickly. I stumbled upon an idea to replace the 3V button cells with two AA batteries. While this might seem unconventional, it’s been working wonders for me!

The cold weather has always been a challenge for these sensors, and I was tired of constantly replacing the batteries. After some research, I decided to give AA batteries a try. The results have been impressive—no more unexpected downtimes, and the sensor has been consistently reliable.

If anyone else is dealing with similar issues, especially in colder climates, I’d highly recommend exploring this simple battery swap. It’s a cost-effective solution that’s easy to implement and has made a significant difference in my setup.

I’d love to hear if others have tried this or have other tips for improving sensor reliability in tough weather conditions!
