Optimizing Nest Fan Control and Camera Notifications

I’ve been really impressed with the Nest fan control functionality, especially when the system is set to “Away.” It’s so convenient to have the fan turn on automatically and run for a set duration, ensuring the house stays fresh even when I’m not home. However, I ran into an issue where the openHAB binding wasn’t maintaining control of the fan when the status was set to “Away.” After some research and tweaking, I managed to get it working smoothly again, which was a great relief!

Another area I’ve been focusing on is camera notifications. I’ve found that during windy days or when yard workers are around, false triggers can be a real nuisance. I’d set the notifications to turn off until the next day, but they’d often come back on within a few hours. After some adjustments, I’ve managed to reduce the false alarms significantly, which has made monitoring much more reliable.

I’d love to hear others’ experiences with similar setups and any tips they might have for optimizing these features. It’s always great to learn from the community and share knowledge to make our smart homes even smarter!
