Optimizing Zigbee Devices for Battery Life

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a bit about my journey with Zigbee devices and how I managed to optimize their battery life. I recently set up a few Aqara thermostatic valves and noticed that the battery life wasn’t as long as I expected. I was sending temperature settings twice a day and using an outside temperature sensor for regulation, which worked well, but the batteries drained faster than I anticipated.

After some research, I realized that the valves were updating too frequently. I decided to tweak the settings in zigbee2mqtt by adjusting the minimum reporting interval. This change helped reduce unnecessary updates and extended the battery life significantly. I thought I’d share this tip in case anyone else is experiencing similar issues!

If you’re using multiple Zigbee devices, optimizing their settings can make a big difference. Let me know if you’ve found any other tricks to improve battery life or if you have questions about my setup. Happy automating!
