Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into optimizing my Zigbee network lately and wanted to share my experiences and tips! ![]()
First off, I noticed that my Zigbee devices were occasionally dropping connections, especially when I was using my phone nearby. After some research, I realized that Zigbee and Wi-Fi can interfere with each other since they both operate on the 2.4 GHz band. To tackle this, I decided to adjust my Wi-Fi settings. I switched my router to channel 1, which is farthest from the Zigbee channel 11. This simple change made a huge difference in stability! ![]()
Next, I focused on the placement of my devices. I read that Zigbee relies on a mesh network, so having strong routers (like powered devices) in key locations is crucial. I started by adding all my powered devices next to my Homey hub, within 20cm as recommended. Once those were stable, I gradually added my battery-powered sensors and endpoints. It took a few hours, but the mesh network started to build up beautifully. Now, my sensors in the farthest corners of my home are consistently connected! ![]()
Another tip I picked up was to avoid placing Zigbee devices near high-power appliances or metal objects, which can block signals. I moved my bathroom sensor away from the microwave, and it’s been rock solid ever since. ![]()
I also found the Zigbee Network Tool super helpful for visualizing my network. It’s amazing to see how the mesh expands and ensures all devices are communicating effectively. Plus, it’s great for troubleshooting if any devices go offline. ![]()
