Outdoor Camera Motion Capture and Integration Tips

I’ve recently been exploring ways to improve my outdoor camera setup, and I thought I’d share my experiences and questions with the community. Motion capture has been a bit of a challenge for me—often, by the time the camera starts recording, the person is already well past the point of interest. I’ve tried adjusting the sensitivity settings, but it’s a delicate balance between capturing too much and missing important moments entirely. Has anyone found a reliable way to optimize motion capture timing? I’d love to hear your tips!

Another thing I’ve been curious about is integrating multiple camera systems. I have a Blink system that I’ve been using for a while, but I’m considering adding some Wyze cameras for better coverage. However, I’ve noticed that sometimes the Blink app doesn’t show pictures or updates on the home page, even though everything seems connected. It’s a bit frustrating, especially when I want to check in remotely. Does anyone have experience with integrating Blink and Wyze cameras seamlessly? I’d appreciate any advice or workarounds you might have!

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with smart lighting automation. I have a GE Z-Wave switch and an Xiaomi button that I’d like to use as a toggle for each other. The idea is that pressing the Xiaomi button would toggle the GE switch, and vice versa. I’ve set up some basic automations, but I’m running into issues where the state doesn’t sync properly if I manually toggle the switch or use the SmartThings app. It seems like the system is maintaining some internal state rather than just toggling the switch. Am I missing something simple here? I’d love to get this working smoothly!

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the Hubitat ecosystem and have been impressed by its flexibility. I recently added my wife as a user in the settings, but now I’m locked out of the controller portal. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m determined to figure this out. If anyone has encountered similar issues or has tips for managing multiple user accounts, I’d be grateful for the help!

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
