I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how it’s transforming my space. One of the most exciting projects I’ve undertaken is setting up outdoor ground lights in my backyard. After spending a late night installing them, I couldn’t wait to see how they looked under the moonlight. Imagine my delight when they illuminated the garden beautifully! My family and I were all impressed, and it’s added a whole new level of curb appeal to our home. ![]()
However, I’ve also encountered a few hiccups along the way. I’ve been using Wyze cameras for quite some time now, and while the newer models like the Wyze Cam Pan 4 have been a joy to use—with features like 4K video and pan functionality—the older Wyze Cam Outdoor v1 and v2 models have been less reliable. They tend to disconnect from the Google Home app, which is frustrating since I’ve invested quite a bit into the Wyze ecosystem. I’ve reached out to their support, but the response has been lackluster. I’m hoping they’ll address this issue soon, as I’d hate to switch brands after all this time.
Another area I’ve been exploring is the integration of multiple smart devices. I’m particularly interested in finding a waterproof remote control for outdoor use, maybe something with an IP67 rating. It would be perfect for poolside or boat parties, allowing guests to control lights or music without needing their phones. I’ve also been thinking about wall mounts for such remotes, though I need to ensure there are no copyright issues involved.
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with some basic automation rules. It’s been fascinating to see how a simple rule can completely change the ambiance of a room. For instance, setting up a rule that adjusts the color temperature of my living room lights based on the time of day has made a world of difference. However, I did run into an issue where the colors would sometimes default to a vibrant green or violet instead of the intended warm white. After some troubleshooting, I realized it was a minor bug in the rule setup, which was easy enough to fix once I identified it.
Overall, my journey into smart home automation has been a mix of triumphs and challenges. But the satisfaction of creating a more connected and efficient home environment makes it all worthwhile. I’m excited to see what the future holds and can’t wait to tackle my next project!
