After the H2 smart plug is getting ready for public beta , I was thinking about the outdoor version…, but what did you like more? A outdoor smart socket or a smart plug?
I really don’t know any good outdoor socket solutions ( specially flush - mounted)
So let me know what you would like or prefer 
Well I have an outdoor smart plug with 2 slots from Meross witch is great and also I have it added to aqara app so I can set the automations for my washing machine and water heater as were I live the humidity is hi and the indoor smart plugs doesn’t last to much.my be Aqara will make an smart plug for outdoor only but socket not recommend since if you live on an zone with hi humidity could break it in an year or 2 I see how the normal socket lasts
I don’t mind either but an outdoor plug would allow me to keep my gfci outlet

Personally I’m rooting for an outdoor socket because I feel like it’s easier to implement and secure. With a plug you always two connections - 1) plug to the socket/outlet and 2) receiver to plug. It’s harder to weatherproof those two connections, especially when people are careless and just want a device that will “just work” and withstand any weather.
So an outdoor socket will have only one accessible connection so less points of failure. You can weatherproof the socket and the cable will be secured by a seal. And usually those outdoor sockets need to be installed by a professional who will not overlook the weather proofing.
Well meross outdoor smart plugs are ment to be used outdoors more every one outside have an socket with the cover on it as that is what it is standard for outdoors and using an plug like meross have doesn’t give you issues or problems at all.but this is each choice and how they want to be or use.there is also Eve socket for outdoors but that is to be mounted on the wall not in the wall.and as I said my be aqara consider doing one too ether an socket or plug for outdoors
Yes , eve only allows to mount it surface and the cable goes in on the top or bottom of the case and not on the back of it … also not very satisfying!

Well true and there is not that is for mounted on the wall at least not an smart socket as I was searching myself and the only way to make an indoor smart socket for outdoors is to add it an frame with the spring cover on it same as it will be an normal socket for outdoors
Whatever you implement it has to be water tight. That means, for me, it is in an enclosure that shuts and all you can see is the cable coming out… which means it has to be a smart socket.

Yeah but smart socket for outdoors beside the Eve one there are none out there and to work with matter or thread too.in my opinion the meross smart plug is the only option if you already have an standard outdoor socket installed not to mention that meross plug have 2 slots and is IP rating for rain but not place it under de water as such plug doesn’t exist.i was search too and the only affordable and great for outdoors for me is the meross one as the eve is more expensive and only have 1 slot and need to me mounted on the wall not into the wall
Well I spoke soon regarding Meross MOP320 outdoor plug as just after 2 months again WiFi signal is broken as now it doesn’t get signal at all were a week ago did had so I do not recommend it anymore as for some weird reason the WiFi board breaks from no were and now I have 2 outdoors plugs that I can’t use them outside because of their poor WiFi signal.now I need to find an new solution for my washing machine and water heater crap​:rofl:
I think I’d prefer an outdoor socket over a plug but installation is not as easy as an outdoor plug would be. I think both have its pros and cons
Well is not so hard ether, I was thinking on buying the eve outdoor socket but I need 2 and those will cost me to much and I rather use 2 smart plugs compatible with WiFi ,matter and thread so I can add them on aqara app using M3 hub and can make automations base on energy consumption as of now aqara plug will not work for me just because I do not know if the zigbee signal will be to strong outside so I need to be WiFi not zegbee
Absolutely! If you need smart electricity just for a short season , the plug is the right choice!
But if you need it the most time of the year , the socket is definitely a better solution in my opinion
Agree still there are not many smart sockets out there for outdoors water resistant my be in the future aqara will bring as something great but till then you ether wait or go with what you can right now
