My tall, thin house was built in the early 17th century with very thick stone walls, renovated with concrete floors and stairs.
I have a G410 Doorbell Camera.
Of course, the doorbell is outside, and the sounder hub is up half a flight of stairs with no structure between the two. Signal strength is reported as -62. The separation is approx <4M
I have one other device linked to the G410 hub: a P1 motion sensor. This sensor is located slightly below the doorbell in a sheltered location outside the house.
There are two stone walls between the hub and the Motion Sensor. The distance between the two is approximately 6.5M. The motion sensor serves as a motion range extender for the doorbell camera, triggering recordings. Signal strength is reported as weak.
The P1 Motion Sensor intermittently, but frequently, goes offline for no apparent reason. Sometimes a restart of the G410 will restore the connection, but not always. Equally, sometimes the connection is restored after a few hours without intervention.
Neither the camera or the hub can be relocated.
I would like to eliminate these disconnections.
Is it likely that an M100 hub located near the Motion Sensor would resolve the disconnections?
Would this arrangement allow P1 automations to trigger event recording by the G410?

The M100 might, it would be worth a try since it’s inexpensive and you have unique circumstances with the home.
Another option would be to replace the P1 with a FP300.

At first sight the FP300 seems like overkill, and I suspect that the diameter of the body will be too large for the small niche where the P1 is sited.
Nevettheless, I am intrigued as to why you think it might be more ‘reliable’.

The P1 is several years old now and I think it uses an older Zigbee radio and I was thinking the FP300 will have a stronger 3.0 Zigbee signal.
It’s worth looking into the difference in the P1 and FP300 Zigbee radio.
Edit: never mind I just looked and the Aqara Motion Sensor P1 (model MS-S02) uses the Zigbee 3.0 wireless protocol.

Hello.because of your configuration and the placements of the chime/hub you can also use an light bulb or an smart plug from agara to make as zigbee router in between this way your P1 will have an strong zigbee connection and won’t go offline anymore.or you can go with what @srl77411 mention buying an M100 and connect the P1 to it instead of the G410 hub

A Zigbee router only helps if it is joined to the same Zigbee network as the P1 and G410 hub; a plug or bulb paired to a separate hub will not relay packets between those networks. Before buying an M100, I would first try a mains-powered Aqara router on the G410’s Zigbee network and check whether the P1 route stabilizes. If the P1 is moved to an M100, confirm that Aqara Home still exposes the G410 recording action in a cross-hub automation before changing the permanent setup.

Hello, my top recommendations. To directly connect the P1 sensor to the G410, you need to.
- Remove the P1 sensor from the APP.
- Disconnect the house from the industrial network (this means turning off all repeaters) and re-add the P1 sensor.
This action will definitely ensure a direct connection P1->G410.
And that is what I suggested an zigbee bridge in between the hub and sensor.the M100 is an alternative that @srl77411 mention him.if you read there are 6.5M and 2 stone walls in between the hub and sensor that is why I recommended an smart plug or an light bulb if he can add in between this way the smart plug or the bulb make the bridge on the same zigbee network.

Unfortunately I don’t have access to a router with Zigbee.
I’ve ordered an M100 from a large online retailer and if it doesn’t do the job I’ll return it.

Well it should do the job if the P100 is paired with M100 and that M100 is closer to the sensor the only thing you need to do is: when you get the M100 added to Aqara home app reset the sensor and pair it to M100 not to the G410 hub
Hi, again.
The P1 is directly connected/paired with the G410, but every two or three days the connection between the two drops.
It happened yesterday, twice, and on neither occasion did a restart if the G410 fix the problem immefiately. But, on both occasions the P1 to G410 connection was restored without intervention.
A screenshot of the log for the P1 is attached.
You will notice long periods where nothing is reported i.e. P1 offline.

In the meantime if anyone would care to remind me how to un-pair from the G410 and subsequently re-pair the P1 with the M100, I’d be grateful!
Just go to Aqara home app and delete the device P100 by enter on his settings
