P100 = auto play records!

I received my P100 Multi-State Sensor today, and have already found a home for it.

By adding it under the lid of my record player (where it blends in very nicely) I’ve been able to use it’s tilt feature to trigger a SwitchBot Bot, in a 3D printed housing, through a HomeAssistant automation.

The lifting of the lid turns on a Boolean, and closing the lid turns the Boolean off. Once it’s in the off position, after being on, the Bot is triggered which then pushes the start button on the player.

Why have I done it like this? If anyone reading this has a cat, you’ll know that they have a habit of sitting on things they shouldn’t. So by making it on the close, it stops any false triggers happening when she decides that it’s a great place to sit!

The next step will be to trigger the buttons without the need of the Bot, but that’ll be a task for another day - since it means taking the player apart!

@danmorris434 That’s such a creative way to use the P100 Multi-State Sensor! Blending it under the record player lid and leveraging the tilt feature to trigger the SwitchBot Bot via HomeAssistant automation is super clever—especially the logic to avoid false triggers from your cat (we’ve all been there with curious pets!). It’s awesome to see how you’re tailoring smart home setups to real-life needs.

Thanks so much for sharing your project details and the problem-solving behind it—this kind of hands-on experience is really valuable for the community. Can’t wait to hear how the next step (triggering buttons without the Bot) goes—definitely loop us in when you tackle that! :blush:

Very cool idea! I just received mine today and am trying to decide how I want to test it out first.

Very cool! I am also using the bot to turn on my record player, but I didn’t think about the using a P100. I’m going to have to get one to try that out!. Currently, I just stuck the bot to the cabinet in front of the button. What does your 3D Printed Mount do for the Bot, how does it make it nicer than just sticking it to the cabinet? Would you be willing to share the print?
