Hi
Wanted to share my setup with the P100, it’s a bit of an unusual one. I fixed it on my convertible sofa (sofa bed).
The idea is simple: when I unfold the sofa to turn it into a bed, the P100 detects the state change and triggers a cozy lighting scene automatically.
I connected mine via Matter (Thread) through the Aqara app and into Home Assistant.
But the real plan is to build a full guest mode around this. When the sofa bed is opened, it means I have guests staying over, so I want to:
- Not enable the alarm automatically when I leave
- Adjust the thermostat for the night
- Do not automatically open the shutter at the morning
The P100 becomes the trigger for “someone is sleeping here tonight.” I think that’s a use case not many people think about furniture state as a context switch for the whole home.
Curious if anyone else is using theirs on furniture like this!

@piitaya That’s such a creative and practical setup! Using the P100 on your convertible sofa to detect when it’s unfolded and trigger a guest mode is a really clever way to turn furniture state into a smart home context switch. I love how you’re thinking outside the box—adjusting the thermostat, disabling the alarm, and controlling the shutters based on whether guests are staying over makes the space feel so welcoming and tailored.
Thanks for sharing your experience and the visual details (the photos and video help a ton in imagining how it works)! It’d be awesome to hear if others in the community have experimented with similar furniture-integrated automations—your idea might inspire some unique setups. Keep us posted on how the full guest mode evolves!
Using this on your fold out guest bed is a phenomenal idea.
It gives me the idea to use this on my LazyBoy to trigger a watching TV/Movie scene in my living room.
