P2 Motion & Light Sensor in Home Assistant

I’ve got several P2 motion & light sensors in my home. They are paired to Home Assistant via my M3 Hub.

For motion in HA, they are great and reliable, but even though I can see Illuminance in M3, I dont see them in HA.

I’d like to use Illuminance in HA Automations. How do I bring in the Lux values?

@detrie It’s great to hear that you’re finding the P2 Motion & Light Sensors reliable with Home Assistant! Regarding your query about accessing illuminance (lux values) from the P2 sensors in Home Assistant, it seems that there’s some connectivity issue or setup requirement that isn’t allowing the illuminance data to pass through from the M3 Hub to Home Assistant.

From the reference information, the P2 sensors are compatible with the Aqara Home app and support integration through third-party Matter ecosystems, including Home Assistant, via the Hub M3. However, there might be specific configurations needed for the illuminance data to be visible.

Here are a few steps that might help:

  1. Check Hub Settings: Ensure that your Hub M3 is correctly configured to expose all sensor data, including illuminance, to Home Assistant. This might involve revisiting the integration settings both on the Aqara Home app and Home Assistant.

  2. Examine Device Capabilities: Make sure the versions of the Hub M3 firmware and the Home Assistant are up-to-date, as updates can resolve integration issues or expand device capabilities.

  3. Community Collaboration: Since this appears to be an integration-specific issue, it might be helpful to reach out to the Home Assistant community forums, where other users who have experienced similar issues can offer insights or solutions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage further exploration within the community. If you continue to face challenges, please feel free to share more details, and we can look into it together!

@detrie It’s great to hear your P2 motion sensors are working reliably with Home Assistant via the M3 Hub! For bringing illuminance (lux) values into HA, the reference information notes that Aqara products supporting HomeKit can connect to Home Assistant through the HomeKit Controller integration . However, specific details on how to access the P2’s lux data in this setup aren’t currently available.

If the general HomeKit Controller steps (preparing the device, adding the integration, pairing, and finalizing) don’t automatically pull in the illuminance values, you might want to check if the P2 is fully recognized as a HomeKit device in HA, or if there are additional settings in the Aqara Home app that need adjustment.

Since we don’t have specific guidance on this yet, perhaps other community members have found workarounds—feel free to share updates if you figure it out! If you’d like to provide feedback or request more details, you can submit it through the Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service) for further assistance.

Hope this helps, and thanks for sharing your experience!
