What firmware version is your P2?
The firmware version is 1.0.2.0. The app says it is up to date. I tried clicking the Update button, but there was no change.
There is no “distance sensitivity”. Only a “Sensitivity setting”.
A PIR sensor does not measure distance. It only detects changes in infrared radiation. For this reason, there is no real setting that lets you choose or limit a specific detection distance. Sensitivity settings only adjust how easily the PIR sensor is triggered, not how far it can ‘see’. True distance measurement is only possible with technologies like mmWave radar (Aqara FP300 or FP2).
You need to be on 1.0.3.0 to see the sensitivity settings
Fair enough. But how do i do that? When i click the Update button, it just says already up to date. Itstill says 1.0.2.0.
I’m not sure if it’s still the reason, but that could be the reason:
I updated my sensor via Home Assistant.
I am not using Home Assistant - I am using Google Home. Is there a way to update the version through GH?
Otherwise, it seems I bought a product that I cannot fully use, and may never be able to.
Very disappointing ![]()
This is not solely down to the product itself. The fact is that Matter Standard 1.4 now offers more options. With the firmware update, the sensor is upgraded from Matter 1.0 to Matter 1.4. Having more configuration options is great. However, all of this is still quite new at the moment. You can perform the update in Home Assistant, but the setting option is not yet supported in the current version (only in beta). It probably will be in the next version, though. Google is also currently working on fully implementing the Matter 1.4 specification. Yes, the update can be done via HA, and the Aqara app already supports this option. However, there are reasons why the update has not yet been fully rolled out. Just be patient and the option will be available soon. Feel free to contact support to find out when it will be ready - they may have some information.
One more question: is the firmware on your hub up to date? As I understand it, it only works if the matter controller is also running Matter 1.4.
Edit: The update should also work via Apple Home. Take a look at this video (it’s best to set the audio to English):
Thanks for all your information and insight - much appreciated!
I think I’m just going to call this a learning experience and move on. This seems like a lot of work and overhead to turn on a light ![]()
