PF Presence Sensor works slowly

Hi all,

I’ve been using this sensor for 12 months already. No issues until last week. It became slow and unresponsive.

I have two sections in the living room (salon zone and TV zone - one light in each section). It stopped triggering automation fluently. Sometimes it stops triggering them at all.

I already reset the sensor and both lights as well. No change.

Do you have any idea why?

@gipsonhc I’m sorry to hear about the slow and unresponsive issues with your presence sensor—let’s try to troubleshoot this together!

First, since the problem started recently, let’s check potential environmental or connectivity factors. The device may be too far from the Wi-Fi router or there could be metal obstacles interfering with the signal. Try moving the sensor closer to the router and ensuring there are no large metal objects (like appliances or furniture) blocking the path.

Firmware updates are also crucial for stability—make sure your sensor’s firmware is up to date, as outdated firmware can sometimes cause communication delays.

Another angle is the installation environment. If the sensor is near moving objects (like fans, air conditioners, or curtains) or sources of airflow, it might lead to detection delays or false triggers. Additionally, if absence detection takes longer than 30 seconds after leaving the zone, it could indicate environmental interference—try repositioning the sensor to a spot with fewer disturbances.
