Poor quality of Polish localization on Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU

Hello,

I would like to raise an issue regarding the Polish localization of the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU.

Unfortunately, the quality of the Polish translation throughout the panel is very poor. This is not limited to a few minor typos or awkward phrases. Many parts of the interface use incorrect Polish grammar, unnatural wording, and in some cases translations that do not accurately represent the meaning of the original function.

The problem is visible throughout the panel, including menus and settings, but one of the most noticeable examples appears directly on the screen saver / weather screen.

For example, the panel displays:

“Pochmurny”

This is incorrect in this context. Pochmurny is an adjective (“cloudy”) and would normally describe a noun. When describing the current weather condition in Polish, the natural and grammatically correct form is:

“Pochmurnie”

The same problem appears with multiple other weather conditions, so the entire list of Polish weather descriptions should be reviewed rather than correcting only this particular example.

There is also an issue with the date format. As shown in the example attached to my previous report, the panel displayed:

“czwartek stycznia 1”

A natural Polish date format should be:

“czwartek, 1 stycznia”

In other words:

DAY NAME, DAY NUMBER MONTH

rather than placing the day number after the month.

However, I want to emphasize that these are only examples. The Polish localization of the panel as a whole needs to be reviewed. There are many incorrect or misleading translations in the menus and settings as well. Some of them sound so unnatural in Polish that they can even appear unintentionally humorous.

I already contacted support@aqara.com about this approximately one year ago. Aqara Support asked me to provide examples of translations that required correction, and I sent several examples by email. Unfortunately, despite this correspondence, after approximately a year I have not noticed the necessary improvements.

I still have the email correspondence with Aqara Support and can provide it if someone from Aqara would like to review the previous report.

I believe the main issue is that correcting individual strings one by one will not solve the problem. The entire Polish localization of the S1 Plus should be reviewed by a native Polish speaker or professional translator, including:

  • weather conditions and weather-related information,
  • dates and grammatical forms,
  • menus and settings,
  • device and function names,
  • commands, statuses and descriptions,
  • context-dependent translations throughout the interface.

The Polish language is highly dependent on grammatical context, so direct word-for-word translation often produces incorrect results. A translation may technically correspond to an English word while still being completely wrong in the context in which it is displayed.

The hardware and interface of the S1 Plus are otherwise very polished products, which makes these localization problems particularly noticeable. For a premium smart-home control panel officially sold on the European market, users should be able to expect a properly localized interface.

I would therefore kindly ask Aqara to review the entire Polish localization rather than only fixing the individual examples reported above.

If needed, I would also be happy to point out additional incorrect translations, and I can provide my previous correspondence with Aqara Support.

Thank you.
