Positive Experience with Shelly Customer Service and Tips for Motion Sensors

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a fantastic experience I had with Shelly customer service. I recently had a Shelly 1 device that stopped working properly. The device was still reachable, but the relay was stuck. I wasn’t sure if it was covered under warranty, and I didn’t have the receipt anymore. Despite these concerns, I decided to send it back to Shelly. To my delight, they sent me back two brand-new Shelly Plus 1 PM units along with a heartfelt apology. No endless questions or hoops to jump through—just pure, genuine customer care. It’s stories like these that really make me appreciate companies that truly value their customers. :raised_hands:

Now, switching gears, I’ve been experimenting with motion sensors in my home, and I wanted to share some tips that might help others troubleshoot common issues. Motion sensors are essential for automating lights, alarms, and more, but they can sometimes be finicky. Here are a few things I’ve learned:

  1. Placement is Key: Ensure your motion sensor is placed away from direct sunlight or heat sources, as these can cause false readings. Also, avoid areas with a lot of reflective surfaces.

  2. Battery Life: Even if you’ve just changed the battery, check it again. Sometimes batteries can be weak or not seated properly, leading to connectivity issues.

  3. Firmware Updates: Always ensure your devices are running the latest firmware. Manufacturers often release updates that improve performance and fix bugs.

  4. Interference: If your motion sensor is part of a larger network (like Zigbee or Z-Wave), check for interference from other devices. Sometimes, overcrowded networks can cause connectivity problems.

  5. Testing: If you’re still having issues, try resetting the device to its factory settings and re-pairing it. This can sometimes resolve persistent connectivity problems.

I’d love to hear from others—what are your go-to troubleshooting steps for motion sensors? Have you encountered any unique challenges or solutions? Let’s share our experiences and tips to help each other out!

Happy automating! :star2:
