Hey everyone, I wanted to share my positive experience with the Xiaomi Xmosb01xs presence detector. This device has been a game-changer in my smart home setup! It uses mmWave technology to detect presence, which is amazing because it can sense someone in a room even when they’re sitting still, something traditional motion detectors can’t do.
The device is battery-powered, and after over a month of use, I haven’t noticed any significant battery drain. Xiaomi claims it can last up to three years, which is fantastic for a device that’s always on.
I was initially looking for a way to integrate this device into my OpenHAB setup without relying on Home Assistant. After some research, I found that using ESPHome as a BLE proxy and then pushing data via MQTT to OpenHAB worked perfectly. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it keeps everything in the OpenHAB ecosystem, which is what I prefer.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tips or tricks for integrating Xiaomi devices directly into OpenHAB or if there are any alternative solutions that could simplify this process further. The community support has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for all the help I’ve received so far! ![]()
