Powering a new G400 Doorbell from a Ring Transformer

Hi All,

Hoping for some advice. I currently have a Ring doorbell, powered by a Ring Plug-in Adapter (2nd Generation). The cable was run inside my new front door when I had it fitted.

I bought a new G400 to replace it, assuming that the transformer would be putting out a standard doorbell current/voltage/whatever (I’m no electrical expert!).

My bell arrived today, and now I’m a little worried about the compatibility/breaking my new doorbell.

The transformer output is listed as DC +24.0V, 0.5A, 12.0W

The G400 is listed as 8-24V DC 0.8A.

Can someone with more electrical knowledge than I advise if this difference in Amperage means my existing wiring won’t work? Or do you think this transformer should be OK?

Thanks,
Warren

OK, I’ve done some Googling and I think I’ve answered my own question, which is NO, don’t use the Ring Power Supply!

I guess I need something like this, with the adapter with the screw terminals on it, and then I can cut my existing wiring and screw them into that, before connecting the adapter?
