Hi, I have a FP300 Presence sensor and need to switch the protocol back from Matter to Zigbee. When attempting by using the Aqara Home App on Android it’s stuck in step 2 “Firmware transferring” at 0% completion. I’ve successfully executed that before a couple of times, but it is failing now. Current Matter firmware version is 1.1.0.1.
Looking forward to any suggestion to solve or similar experiences in case.
Press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds reset the device and start the network pairing mode again or short press the reset button 10 times to restore the factory settings. FP300 Manual
During the fresh install select Zigbee
What you have described is exactly what I have gone through, but unfortunately it got stuck in step 2 “Firmware transferring” at 0% completion.
Is there any other option to install the firmware?
Just last night before going to bed I showed a firmware update for the FP300 and I selected to install it. The install seemed to be stuck at 0% and wouldn’t install. I was tired and threw the phone on the charger and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning I checked and it was installed.
Not sure that helps but it just occurred and is relevant.
Are you going to the account profile page or in the fp300’s firmware update section? Sometimes I have to go to the devices firmware update page to do the install. With the fp300 I find that after I press update in the devices settings-firmware section I press the button once and it moves through the process.
It seems like I have a different setup. I do not have an Aqara Hub, but just the Aqara Home App and the FP300 Sensor. This usually allows me to install the latest firmware by switching between Zigbee and Threat Protocol using the Home App.
This has been working without issues a couple of times, but now I not able to switch from Threat to Zigbee any longer, where it’s stuck in step 2 “Firmware transferring” at 0% completion.
As far as I know this is the only way to switch Protocols, no matter if you have an Aqara Hub or not.
Any suggestion is welcome.
The room is 14x13 square-ish with one door, one floor vent (for heating-cooling) one window (58"x70"). The FP300 is set on the top of the window trim angled down slightly which covers the entire room. It’s facing the door.
Hope that helps?
I’m currently using the FP300 in zigbee mode paired to the M3 hub. It’s then passed through to Apple, home assistant and homey pro via the M3 hub.
That is what I was looking for. I am wondering if the M3 hub may help to solve the update/protocol switch issue and/or if an E100 hub would be sufficient and is providing the firmware update feature without the need to switch protocols back and forth.
I would grab the M100 first if you don’t want to get the M3
Hi, firmware update requires the corresponding protocol (Thread or Matter), so switching is necessary if you just want to update the corresponding firmware type. M3 or other gateway also requires switching the protocol. It’s just that when you use Zigbee (Thread) and update this protocol, switching is not necessary.
E1 gateway does not support Thread, the update will only be for Zigbee.
I can’t say for sure, but after updating the APP to version 6.1.1, my Android started switching without problems. Before that, I was using my wife’s iPhone. It’s also possible that there was an update to Android, because it started acting a little strangely.
Ooops, typo… the device I wanted to ask for was the M100 hub.
Thank you for the detailed information. I have checked on my Android device and am running Aqara Home App version 6.1.1 as well. I am afraid, but not sure that it may be related to the Matter firmware version running on the FP300, which currently is 1.1.0.1.
I have also recently noted that I am not even able anymore to pair the device to a Threat Border Router anymore, as it it trying to connect to a not existing (may be previously existing and locally stored) threat network. I have reset the FP300 multiple times, but that did not help.
Is it possibility as well to downgrade the installed protocol firmware? I have recognized that PIR behavior has changed between Zigbee firmware versions 5234 and 5841 and prefer the behavior of version 5234.
Unfortunately it’s not possible by yourself. In some cases the Aqara support might help. But they need to check first , if the firmware can be downgraded
