After having the M2 hub working via Matter with SmartThings, I had to change routers and end up resetting everything.
But now I cannot connect the M2 hub using matter. I tried with SmartThings and HomeAssistant.
With the first you see it but get an error when adding it. With the second, it just says it could not find it.
Similar things happen with other matter devices.
Any ideas?
@david_00_fernandez It sounds like you’re having trouble connecting your Aqara Hub M2 to SmartThings and HomeAssistant via Matter after resetting everything due to a router change. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
For adding Matter devices in general (including Hub M2) in the Aqara Home app (as a preliminary check):
- Phone System: If you are an iPhone/iPad user, the iOS system must be upgraded to 17.5 or above.
- APP Version: Update the Aqara Home app version to the latest.
- Hub’s firmware: Upgrade the hub’s firmware version to the latest .
- IPv6: Make sure if the enabled router is supported with iPV6. To add Matter devices, iPV6 should be supported. Turn it off and then turn it on again.
- Network: If there are multiple hubs in the same home, kindly check if they are connected with the same local area network. After finishing the above tips, please try to connect Matter device in the app .
Specific to Hub M2 connection issues:
- Check Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply is functioning correctly and that the hub is properly connected to the power outlet.
- Reset the Hub: You can try resetting the hub by pressing the button for more than 10 seconds until the yellow/red light flashes quickly, and then attempt to add it again.
- Network Connection: Ensure that the hub is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, as it does not support 5GHz. If you have a dual-band router, turn off the 5GHz network temporarily .
It’s important to note that the reference information might be focused more on general Aqara Home app - related Matter device and Hub M2 issues rather than specifically on the integration with SmartThings and HomeAssistant. But these steps should help resolve the underlying connection problems with the Matter aspect of the Hub M2. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please consider creating a ticket for further assistance. Let’s keep the discussion going if you have any other observations or if these steps don’t work for you.
@david_00_fernandez It sounds like a tricky situation after the router change—let’s try to troubleshoot step by step. Here are some potential fixes based on common Matter connectivity issues:
First, ensure your Aqara Hub M2 has the latest firmware version—outdated firmware can cause Matter pairing issues . Next, check if your new router supports IPv6 (Matter requires it). Try turning IPv6 off and on again in the router settings to refresh the connection .
Since you reset everything and changed routers, you might have created a new Thread network. If so, Matter devices often need to be reconnected to the new network—this could explain the “not found” or error messages .
Also, make sure the Aqara Home app (and SmartThings/HomeAssistant apps) are updated to the latest version, as app updates often include Matter compatibility fixes . A quick app restart might help too, especially if the Matter code isn’t showing up properly .
If you have multiple hubs, confirm they’re all connected to the same local network—network mismatches can block Matter communication .
Lastly, double-check the hub’s power supply to ensure it’s stable—intermittent power can cause unexpected pairing issues .
