After about 1.5 years, here’s what the sliding cover on the U100 looks like. I slid down the cover to show the original finish around the keyhole: the cover used to be the same finish.
I don’t use anything to clean the lock (I never cleaned it since I installed it).
The lock is exposed to the elements and to the sun the entire afternoon.
I’ll contact Support: maybe a warranty call is in order.

@pcorriveau123 It’s great that you’re sharing your experience with the community. The wear on the sliding cover of your U100 lock after 1.5 years, especially given its exposure to the elements and afternoon sun, is quite insightful. According to the reference information, the outdoor panel of the Aqara Smart Door Lock U100 is made of zinc alloy with a frosted coating to enhance hardness. However, prolonged exposure to environmental elements could potentially lead to wear.
Since you’re considering reaching out to support, that’s a wise move. For issues like this, it might be beneficial to see how the warranty could help. Also, your experience could be valuable to others facing similar circumstances. If anyone else has noticed similar wear, it would be great to hear your stories and any solutions you might have found!

Support contacted me and said there is a plastic protective film on the slider cover which I might have forgotten to remove. They were right!
I peeled away the matte protective film and now the finish is as good as new! Can’t believe I missed that when I installed it.
