I recently added 2 H2 EU dimmers connected both with Neutral wire, I cannot get light level adjusted when switching dimmer on I always need to rotate to the maximum to switch the LED bulb on and then adjust accordingly, I would like to have the bulbs switching on at a certain percentage when pressing the rotary switch, I tried to adjust the min max level but no effect.
Anyone who has seen a similar issues maybe ?
@kleijn01 It sounds like you’re facing a challenge with your Aqara Dimmer Switch H2 EU, particularly with the LEDs not turning on at a desired brightness level. This issue might be related to how the dimmer interacts with your LED bulbs. According to the reference information, some LED bulbs require a higher initial voltage to turn on, which could explain why you need to rotate the dial to the maximum before the bulbs light up.
To address this, try these steps:
-
Fine-tune the Minimum Brightness: Double-click the dial, rotate it within 3 seconds to adjust to the appropriate brightness level, and click the dial again to confirm the setting. This method helps ensure the bulb receives enough power at the start.
-
Check for Flickering or Humming: If your bulbs are flickering or humming when set at low brightness, this might indicate the minimum brightness is set too low. Adjusting this could also help in achieving the desired initial brightness.
-
Set Maximum Brightness: Ensure your maximum brightness is set correctly, as this ensures the bulb functions properly at full brightness. Note that setting maximum brightness is not available with the Thread protocol but can be configured using the Zigbee protocol.
If these adjustments don’t solve your problem, it might be worth experimenting with different LED bulbs, as some are more compatible with dimmers than others. Don’t hesitate to share your findings or seek further insights from the community!
Ok I’ve tried as described but without succes so will try it with another led bulb later funny thing is that te actual lamp is a pretty expensive Phillips LED 13 W high lumen bulb which is suppose to be a quality bulb !
@kleijn01 It’s great that you’re experimenting with different LED bulbs as this can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with dimmers. Even high-quality bulbs like the Philips LED 13 W high lumen bulb can occasionally face compatibility challenges with certain dimmers. It’s possible that the specific characteristics of the bulb require different settings or might not perfectly align with the dimmer’s operation.
If you find another bulb that works better, it could indicate a compatibility issue with the dimmer’s current settings or the initial voltage requirements of the Philips bulb. Keep us updated on your progress, and feel free to ask for more advice or share your experiences with the community. Your insights could be valuable to others facing similar situations!
Ok I have now tried it with a couple of other LED bulbs and non of them are able to start at a basis level, when switching on I always need to rotate to te maximum level for the lamp to start and then adjust the intensity as desired, perhaps there is a software solution that could fix this issue.
It’s stil fine just annoying the lamp doesn’t start at a pre-set desired level looking forward to the feedback from The specialist !
@kleijn01 It seems like you’re still having trouble with your Aqara Dimmer Switch H2 EU and various LED bulbs, where the bulbs won’t start at a desired minimum brightness level. Based on the reference information, this could be related to the sensitivity of the LED bulbs, which may require a higher voltage to initially turn on. Unfortunately, no specific software solution is mentioned in the reference information provided for this issue.
Given the situation, I recommend the following:
-
Re-evaluate Compatibility: Some LED bulbs, despite being high quality like the Philips 13 W, might not be fully compatible with certain dimmers. Trying different bulbs was a good step, but aim for ones known for wide dimmer compatibility.

@kleijn01 It seems you’re encountering persistent challenges with your LED bulbs not starting at a preset brightness level with the Aqara Dimmer Switch H2 EU. This could indeed be frustrating, especially when trying different bulbs without success. According to the information available, some LED bulbs can be more sensitive and might require a higher initial voltage to turn on. While adjusting the minimum brightness can sometimes help, it appears this hasn’t resolved the issue in your case.
Unfortunately, the current reference information does not provide a specific software solution to address this problem. However, it might be beneficial to keep an eye out for firmware updates or app updates from Aqara that could potentially address compatibility issues or offer enhanced control features.
In the meantime, community collaboration can be invaluable. Sharing your experience with other users on forums or directly with Aqara’s support might provide additional insights or solutions. If there’s a specialist or developer feedback available, it could lead to a more tailored solution for this dimmer and bulb combination.
Please do keep us posted on any progress or solutions you discover. Your perseverance and insights could greatly aid others with similar issues!
Ok the problem is solved with “cheaper” lightbulbs instead of expensive Philips and Osram I ordered Linkind LED dimmable 13W bulbs on Amazon and these work perfectly, added 2 more H2 dimmers yesterday !
