In intelligent security scenarios, using camera to care for pets, track their health status, and record and share interesting behaviors are also important application methods. Aqara has always been committed to creating an intelligent, energy-saving, healthy, and comfortable home, and caring for pets also belongs to this category. Are you a user who owns pets? What pets are you currently taking care of? What practical problems did you face during the process of raising pets? What kind of pet care devices do you think is what you need the most? What unique features do you want it to have? Welcome to leave your opinions and suggestions under this topic.
As any cat owner will tell you, it’s stopping them climbing onto things like the kitchen worktop that’s the biggest pain we face as owners.
Perhaps something that can sit on top and detect the pet, and then produce some sort of deterrent? Maybe a pre recorded message or a clapping sound?
Hi Donie, we have a pet—our cat is 13 years old and an important part of our household. We currently use a few smart devices to help care for her, including an automatic feeder, a water station, and a cat door that opens via RFID.
That said, there are a few gaps and opportunities where a smarter, more connected approach could really make a difference:
• Water Station: It would be great to track how much water our cat drinks and receive notifications when the water is polluted or needs refreshing.
• Cat Feeder: Adding a built-in camera would help check in when we’re away. Ideally, it could also integrate with a smart scale to adjust feeding portions based on our cat’s weight—perhaps with AI-driven advice on feeding schedules.
• Cat Door: A camera feature would also be helpful here, allowing us to see whether the cat is outside or inside, especially when we’re not at home.
• Smart Integration: HomeKit support across all devices would be a major plus, helping us keep everything unified in our existing smart home setup.
If Aqara were to create connected versions of the feeder or cat door with these features, we’d definitely be interested. Looking forward to seeing how Aqara continues to innovate in the pet care space!
Agree with what other users said. Something to deter cats from climbing certain things or entering some rooms. Automating their feeding — especially outdoors to not in inadvertently feed other animals — would also be great
As pets I have several fish, this time cold water. It would be nice a system that had an aquatic camera to be able to see them as they are, with a temperature sensor and if possible, a system that allowed to cool the water or heat it, so that the water temperature was always ideal.
We have two bigger dogs. They spend a lot of time outside.
I use my cameras to keep an eye on them as well as deter barking.
An outdoor watering system would be ideal during the summer to be sure the water gets refilled multiple times a day.
I also know plenty of very serious aquarium people who use smart technology for their tanks water temperature, lighting, salinization, etc… I think it’s a pretty niche and therefore expensive market. Perhaps Aqara could make a splash there.
our 23 year old cat died near end of last year, but we are picking a new kitten up at the end of aug. we used pet feeder with vibration monitor under the bowl and it worked greate once the cat figured it out… he would nudge it a few times and then automation if the sensor detected vibration 3 times within a certian period it would dump some food out.
We did have a philips pet series water fountain and tried the xiaomi one but returned them as the cat would still lick the dirty sink water or drains instead (he was alibino russian blue so was a bit strange).
I personally would love to see a smart cat flap, one with a zigbee controlled lock as if your away and temps are like today… its 37c here right now you could lock it and keep cat in.
I have parakeets (two budgerigar).
They were the reason why I bought my first Aqara devices.
They can freely roam in my living room and I move their home aviary next to the windows in the morning, they like to look out of the window and observe the birds outside and the trees waving in the wind.
Because the sun will directly shine into the window I bought the Aqara Roller shade drivers to automatically lower the darkening shades when I am not at home and the sun intensity is too high for them. I measured over 40°C on the window frame (inside) in the summer in direct sunlight.
I would like to have a camera to have a look what’s going on when I am not at home, it won’t need and audio recording or playback functionality, no nigh vision or other security camera related stuff, but a moveable (min 180 degree, up down left and right movement) camera with zoom and remote operation. AI functionality would be cool, to detect where they are and automatically track where they move.
Aqara already has some cameras available but I haven’t looked much into them if one would fit my needs.
I use the pet detection on my cameras at home. Was wondering about getting the automatic feeder. Other than that a cat door that works with standard pet chip implants would be nice.
For me the best will be some magic device which will stop my dog from barking when i’m not in home
I already have the Aqara Smart Pet Feeder C1 for the cats we had. Really happy with it, but I see that Aqara’s competitors are coming with feeders with cameras. It would be cool if Aqara had come with a smart cat door, smart water dispenser and more pet features in the next smart camera.
1 - Pet Feeder - automatic feeder with camera
Camera
With 360 panoramic view / Infrared / AI recognition.
Several different camera modes - Bowl view / 360° Mode - Seeing it all / Home Camera Mode - Watch over your pet.
AI recognition
Video clips both before and after the meal
Smart feeding - completely automatic - The camera checks if there is food in the bowl before it feeds, so you avoid overfeeding and plan meals directly in the app.
Two-way audio
With two-way audio you can talk to your pet, no matter where you are. Record a personal message that is played when the food is served.
Power
Should have both the option of batteries and power.
Sensor
A sensor that gives an alarm, for example if the feeder is tipped over.
2 - Smartdoor
Opens with a collar, certain times or manually via app. The cat we had didn’t like collars. Isolated, we have cold winters. AI camera? Since it has to run on batteries, you have to change the battery or charge it often. AI camera can then stop the cat if it has a mouse, bird or other animal in its mouth.
3 - Smart Water Dispenser
Advanced filters for clean, fresh water and a sensor that detects when the cat has drunk water
4 - Smart Camera – Whit Pet Features
Our cats are not allowed to go on the table or kitchen counter. With an AI camera we can detect these areas and give an alarm/voice that makes the cats go down.
Hi. I have a cat and I also am away from the house on occasion. Currently I use various cameras, the C1 pet feeder and sensors while I’m away. The P2 is great as while she is wondering around the house at night, certain lights go on and off. The pet feeder is awesome and I can speak to her through the cameras. One thing I really need though is a smart water device to match the pet feeder. It would be great not to have to put loads of bowls of water down if I’m away for a couple of days. The cameras are also great at catching random zoomies which are often really funny to watch.
Guys, Thank you very much for your suggestions.
To be honest, I have little experience in raising pets. I once had two british shorthair cats, one big and one small, in 2018-2019. Unfortunately, due to my lack of companionship, they jumped out of the window and escaped one night, which made me sad for a while. I think I don’t have the conditions to raise a pet yet, and I have never kept a pet since then. My only experience in caring for these two british shorthair cats is that even when using cat litter, the smell of feces is really unpleasant, and it fills the whole room. In addition, they have serious hair loss. My living room sofa is covered with their hair, which is difficult to clean. Therefore, I prohibit them from entering my bedroom. Due to work, there is no one at home to take care of them (my wife, like me, is not at home on weekdays), and I think these reasons have accelerated their desire to escape, So now I am considering using some products to solve these problems, and you guys have given me great inspiration.
In August, there is a pet and pet supplies exhibition in Shanghai, China, and I plan to go and have a look. Maybe I will get more ideas.
Thank you guys again.
Right! Not just aquarium enthusiasts—there are also people who keep insects and reptiles. I believe Aqara should have the capability to maintain a comfortable environment for these special “little cuties.”
Speaking of really wish we had the pet feeder in Australia I’m looking at ordering one from the uk but the shipping is crazy
We have 2 cats but we are away from home all the time so a pet feeder with a camera helps make sure they are feed all the time
I’ve got a small 5-year-old Pomeranian, and I sometimes babysit my parents’ Pom too. Taking care of them is great, but there are definitely a few day-to-day challenges such as remembering to fill their water bowl, making sure they get fed, letting them outside regularly, and stopping them from hopping up on tables to look for snacks.
I’m currently using the Aqara pet feeder, which has been super helpful for keeping feeding on a schedule. That said, my dog’s a grazer and doesn’t always finish his food right away. So the food starts piling up, which can jam the feeder. It’d be awesome if it had a camera and could check if the bowl’s empty before dispensing. Also, it doesn’t alert me when food is running low, which would be a nice addition.
One thing I’d really love is a smart water bowl with a big tank so I don’t have to refill it as often. Bonus points if it could send alerts when it’s almost empty and track how much water my dog’s drinking. That kind of info would be great for keeping an eye on his health.
To stop him from jumping on tables, I’ve set up security cameras with animal detection zones on my coffee and dining tables. If it spots him up there, it plays a smoke alarm sound through my speakers to scare him off. It’s actually been working pretty well. He runs off pretty quick now and isn’t going up as often.
I also use an Aqara contact sensor on our side door. If the door hasn’t been opened again within 2.5 hours (between 8am and 11pm), I get a reminder to take him out. It’s been a handy way to stay on top of things.
As for a new product idea, I’d love some kind of tracker that clips to his collar, maybe something Zigbee or Thread-based. The main idea would be to know if he’s home or not, kind of like a presence sensor. That would help a lot with automations, especially when I’m out and want to know if he’s alone. If it could also track how active he’s been, that’d be even better. Then I’d know if he needs a walk or more playtime.
I would love to see more pet-focused products like these from Aqara!
Hi @Aqara_PM_Donie . I hope this is still relevant. I have a cat in my apartment , he is 14 years old, a British shorthair breed with a good pedigree.
To monitor the cat, I use cameras that I have all over the apartment ( e1, e2, g2 pro, g3 and others) . The cat eats from the Aqara feeder and as soon as he hears that the food has started to pour, he immediately runs to eat

I have to fill the water often because he drinks a lot, and I would like to see aqara have a smart pet waterer with replaceable filters (I know that cats really like them). If I had one, I would definitely add it to my collection of devices and make my cat happy. Let’s continue.
The cat goes to the litter box (not smart - normal) I attached a vibration sensor to it and made it a little smart

One thing that would be great is a reptile thermostat and hygrometer for snakes/lizards/tarantulas etc (all of which I have). It would be great to see all the info in Aqara and Apple Home apps. This would give the ability to be able to set alterations for various temperature ranges
