Product Suggestion: Narrower Curtain Driver for Ripplefold Curtains
Introduction
Within the Aqara ecosystem, the Curtain Driver E1 (Track Version) is a practical and smart solution for automating curtains. However, there is a physical limitation that prevents it from being used with ripplefold curtains.
This style of curtain runs on a ripplefold curtain track, which has a narrower internal profile than standard tracks.
Problem Identified
When attempting to automate my ripplefold curtains, I discovered that the Curtain Driver E1 Track was too wide to fit the ripplefold track system.
As a result, I had to purchase a product from another brand — something I would have preferred to avoid in order to keep my setup fully Aqara.
Opportunity for Improvement
Ripplefold curtains are a popular choice among interior designers and homeowners, especially in markets such as Europe, North America, and Asia.
Offering a slimmer version of the Curtain Driver E1 could address a clear gap in Aqara’s product line and appeal to a growing segment of style-conscious consumers.

- “E1 Slim” version with reduced overall width
- Direct compatibility with ripplefold curtain tracks
- Same Zigbee/Matter connectivity and Aqara Home integration
- Optional solar panel to charge the driver, reducing the need for manual recharging
- Option to sell as a dedicated unit or as an adapter kit for existing models
Closing Note
A narrower Curtain Driver — especially with an optional solar charging solution — would allow Aqara to reach a broader audience, eliminate the need for customers to turn to competing brands, and further strengthen the Aqara smart home ecosystem.
