Hi all, I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on to control my garage doors using a Raspberry Pi. It’s been a great way to integrate my garage into my smart home setup without breaking the bank.
I’ve set up a system that controls up to four garage doors using just one Raspberry Pi. The setup is surprisingly simple—just download the Python script, follow the instructions, and you’re good to go. The best part is that it works seamlessly with MQTT, including platforms like openHAB, making it versatile for different setups.
I’ve been using this setup on an original Raspberry Pi 1, which shows just how efficient this solution is. The only limitation is the number of GPIO ports, but with careful planning, you can expand it as needed.
