Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with the Reolink Argus 3 Pro Akku-Cams and how I managed to integrate them into my Home Assistant setup. I’ve always been a bit hesitant about wireless cameras due to their reliance on Wi-Fi, but the flexibility of these devices really caught my eye.
Initially, I was a bit disappointed to find out that these cameras aren’t natively supported in HA. After a quick search, I stumbled upon a GitHub solution, but it wasn’t the most user-friendly experience. Fast forward to the 2024.7 release of HA, and I was thrilled to see that Reolink Home Hubs were now supported! This was the missing piece I needed to control my Akku-Cams wirelessly without any cloud dependency.
The Home Hub itself was a game-changer. It arrived just in time for Prime Day, and I snapped up the Argus 4 Pro as well. The setup was incredibly smooth—after pairing the Hub with the app, the cameras appeared in HA almost instantly. The best part? The solar panel keeps everything charged, and I can place these cams anywhere without worrying about messy wires.
I’ve been using them for several weeks now, and they’ve exceeded my expectations. The integration with HA is flawless, and I can control everything right from the dashboard. If you’re on the fence about wireless cameras, I highly recommend giving the Reolink Akku-Cams a shot, especially with the Home Hub. It’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup!
