Hi. Has anyone figured out how/where to get replacement cylinders from? the key is compatible with the schlage sc-1, but the cilinder used in aqara is smaller in ‘‘height’’ and the front rotating part has a smaller diameter. i would be interested in getting a few
Hello there,
A few notes for exchanging/rekeying U400 lock cylinder.
Exchanging Lock Cylinder
Buy new lock cylinders in the same size as the original one, then replace the original with the new one.
Note: The lock cylinder used for the U400 is a less common specification and is not the same as Schlage cylinders. Please ask a locksmith has a check if they have a suitable replacement.
Lock Cylinder Rekeying
If you don’t want to replace them with extra lock cylinders, there is a detailed video on YouTube that walks through the re-keying process. However, please note that re-keying can be a bit challenging and extra tools are required. The link is attached below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ys-7dWSfUQ
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I fully understand the re-keying process as I have been doing it for over 40 years now, and have all my gear. My issue is getting additional cylinders, as in Canada/North America, no locksmith I have interacted with seems to be able to locate it.
I have actually modded a kwikset cylinder, and also modded a Schlage cylinder successfully, but am looking to have an original one for less hassle.
If Aqara can sell these or orient me I will gladly purchase them!
Also, for the key itself, I know that the key is very similar to a Schlage (interchangeable) but the key cutting process is different since Aqara cutting is reference from the tip, instead of the shoulder as it’s typically done. I also own a key cutting machine.
So with this being said, I louve the products, but would like you to sell me additional locks and/or provide contact for a reseller. Thanks!
Hi, thank you very much for the detailed explanation, and we truly appreciate you sharing your extensive experience and hands-on work with lock cylinders. However, at the moment, we sincerely apologize that the U400 lock cylinder is not available for separate purchase. If there are any updates regarding cylinder availability or accessories in the future, we’ll share them through our official channels.
I went ahead and used the instruction video above as a guide, and with a $25 Schlage rekey kit from Amazon I was able to successfuly rekey two U400 locks. ![]()
One tip,be very careful with the follower so that the driver pins and springs don’t fall out of the sleeve. ![]()
If you do run into that problem, then this video has a good tip for putting it back together.
