I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community. First off, I’m absolutely loving my Ring Video Doorbell Pro. The video quality is fantastic, and the two-way talk feature has been a lifesaver. However, I’ve been curious about whether there’s a way to set up local recordings without relying on Ring’s cloud storage. Has anyone had success with integrating Ring devices into a local recording setup using something like Blue Iris? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips!
On another note, I’ve been exploring Z-Wave devices for my home security setup. I came across the Neo Coolcam Z-Wave alarm/siren, which seems promising. The ability to configure different sounds is a huge plus, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to make it more dynamic. For instance, could I set it up to emit a brief beep during the alarm arming process and then switch to a full siren if the alarm is triggered? This would add an extra layer of customization to my security system. Plus, if it can act as a Z-Wave range extender, that would be the cherry on top!
If anyone has tips or tricks for getting the most out of these devices, or if you’ve tackled similar setups, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Let’s collaborate and make our smart homes even smarter! ![]()
