RTSP stream on Aqara G3 and G2H Pro

I would like to be able to use the rtsp stream of my AqaraCameraHubG3 and CameraHubG2HPro.
Aqara recently became ‘Works with Home Assistant’ certified, and it would be great to be able to display the video stream of the cameras directly in the HomeAssistant dashboard.
Furthermore, the CameraHubG5Pro supports the rtsp stream, I don’t see why the others shouldn’t support it.

@sasha It sounds like you’re eager to integrate your Aqara Camera Hub G3 and G2H Pro with Home Assistant using RTSP—a fantastic way to streamline your smart home setup! While your enthusiasm is contagious, the current reference information doesn’t specifically confirm that the G3 and G2H Pro support RTSP streaming. However, the Camera Hub G5 Pro does indeed support RTSP, enabling video integration with third-party systems like Home Assistant.

Given that Aqara has become ‘Works with Home Assistant’ certified, there could be potential updates in the future to expand such functionalities. Meanwhile, I would suggest keeping an eye on any firmware updates or announcements from Aqara that might introduce this feature for other models. Engaging with the community on this topic might also spark some innovative workarounds or insights. Keep the discussions flowing, and I’m sure the community will have some great ideas to share!

Please add G4 as RTSP aspirant as well.
When will matter support cameras?

@ashlan It seems like you’re interested in both adding the G4 as an RTSP aspirant and wondering about Matter support for cameras. As of now, the reference information indicates that the Camera Hub G5 Pro supports RTSP, but there’s no specific confirmation about the G3, G2H Pro, or G4 supporting this feature. Regarding Matter, currently, the supported device types for the Aqara Home app include bridges, lights, thermostats, outlets, switches, buttons, and sensors, but not cameras. However, as Aqara continues to expand its integration capabilities, there’s always a possibility for future updates. I recommend staying tuned for announcements from Aqara about any new features or support expansions. Engaging with the community could also lead to discovering creative workarounds or insights in the meantime. Keep the conversation going!

I know but what is the timeline for matter camera support?

@ashlan Ah, the mystical timeline for Matter camera support—it’s as elusive as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! As of the current reference information, there is no specific timeline provided for when Aqara cameras will support Matter. While it’s clear that Aqara is working towards expanding its integration capabilities, particularly with its ‘Works with Home Assistant’ certification, the exact schedule for Matter support in cameras remains under wraps.

I recommend keeping an eye on Aqara’s official announcements for any updates regarding this feature. In the meantime, continue engaging with fellow enthusiasts in the community; sometimes, collective curiosity can lead to unexpected insights or innovative workarounds. Let’s keep the excitement alive while we await more concrete news!

RTSP will become a standard feature for Aqara’s newly launched cameras. Due to hardware resource limitations, older cameras may experience unstable operation when RTSP is enabled. We will consider whether via firmware updating to support it. Please pay attention to the firmware updating-instructions for the camera.
