Screen Utilization & Baby Monitor Setup Tips

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into optimizing my smart home setup lately and wanted to share some insights and questions I’ve come across. Hopefully, this can help others who are on a similar journey!

First off, I’ve been experimenting with screen layouts on my mobile devices for the Home Assistant app. I noticed something interesting—when using the official Home Assistant app on my Nokia 7.2, the Lovelace frontend only displays my Button Card tiles in two columns. However, when I switch to Chrome or Edge, it magically shows three columns! The screen size is the same, so I’m a bit puzzled about why this discrepancy exists. Has anyone else experienced this? I’d love to find a way to utilize the full screen potential on the app as well. Maybe there’s a setting or tweak I’m missing?

Speaking of screens, I’ve also been thinking about setting up a baby monitor. I want something reliable that can notify me with continuous sound at a low level. From what I’ve read, cameras like the Wyze Cam V3 could work, but I’m not entirely sure about the setup process. Does anyone have experience with integrating a baby monitor into their smart home system? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Another thing I’ve been pondering is cutting LED light strips. I have this cool idea to install them under my bed frame, but the shape of my bed makes it tricky. I was wondering if it’s possible to cut the strips in half without damaging them. I’ve heard that some strips can be cut at specific intervals, but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. If anyone has successfully done this or has some advice, I’d be thrilled to hear about it!

On a lighter note, I’ve been really impressed with how the community shares such helpful resources and tips. It’s amazing how much we can learn from each other’s experiences. Whether it’s troubleshooting app layouts, setting up baby monitors, or customizing LED strips, the collective knowledge here is invaluable.

If anyone has insights or solutions to the questions I’ve raised, please do share! I’m excited to continue learning and improving my smart home setup. Thanks for being such an incredible resource!
