Hi everyone! I recently upgraded my home security system and wanted to share some insights and questions regarding camera security and device automation.
First, I purchased a PoE NVR system to enhance my surveillance setup. While exploring the configuration, I came across concerns about the security vulnerabilities of Reolink devices due to their use of UPnP. I’m curious about the steps others have taken to secure their systems and prevent remote attacks. Specifically, I’d like to know how to access my cameras remotely without exposing vulnerable ports. Any recommendations on network topology or security practices would be greatly appreciated!
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with automating my coffee machine using a BlitzWolf SHP-6 switch. It works beautifully, but I’d like to refine the automation further. Currently, the machine turns off after 10 seconds if there’s no water, but I want it to stay on if I press the button manually. I’m considering adding a binary sensor to detect button presses and adjust the automation accordingly. Has anyone tackled a similar challenge and could share their approach?
Lastly, I’m looking into Matter device management and have encountered some instability issues. I’ve heard that SmartThings offers more granular controls, and I’m considering switching from Google Home. I’d love to hear experiences from those who’ve managed Matter devices with third-party apps.
It’s amazing how technology can enhance our daily lives, but it’s equally important to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on these topics!
