Hello everyone, I’m reaching out to seek some guidance on setting up an outdoor security camera system that integrates seamlessly with my existing smart home setup. I recently purchased an Arlo Pro 2 camera, hoping it would be the perfect addition to my security setup. However, my experience so far has been less than ideal. The camera has been unstable, and I’ve struggled to get a video feed to display on my Apple TV or HomeKit app. Additionally, I’ve been unable to cast the camera feed to my Chromecast, which is something I really wanted to achieve for monitoring purposes.
My main goal is to create a system where I can trigger the camera feed to display on my TVs (whether Chromecast, Apple TV, or Android TV) based on specific events, such as motion detected by a sensor or a manual button press. I’m looking into options like Netatmo, Ring, Nest, and Synology Surveillance, but I’m not sure which one would best meet my needs for compatibility with Homey and HomeKit.
I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully set up a similar system. What cameras and systems have worked well for you? How did you achieve the integration with your smart home platform? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I’m really hoping to get this sorted out so I can enjoy the peace of mind that a reliable security system provides.
Thank you in advance for your help and insights!
