Hello, HA does not have the “prohibit device removal” option?
I enabled this option on the M3 gateway and now no one but me can remove the accessory.
I’m using Aqara devices (zigbee) with Home Assistant. Daily integration works fine, but software updates for devices doesn’t work. There is a functionality to do updates, but they generally fail.
It’s exactly the same in Matter, some manufacturers use their own clusters to extend the functionality. Home Assistant has a whole file full of Matter definitions for non-standard vendor functions.
For instance, Eve Energy plug reported energy through Matter before Matter 1.3 included it as a standard feature. That same plug allows changing the brightness of the status LED and enable the child lock to disable the power button via custom attributes, I made a driver for SmartThings so the feature is available right in the app.
Unfortunately not, there is no option to lock the devices down. However, it’s not a HA missing feature, but a feature not implemented by Aqara for Zigbee connections. They could technically add this to the exposed Zigbee options, but they simply haven’t done so.
While I do understand that the M3 hub allows this, the entire point of using HA is to avoid having to setup multiple hubs which in the case of HA adds another layer of unneccesary hardware that might fail at some stage.
Hopefully the Aqara Team expands their Zigbee implementation for third parties soon ![]()
