Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I’m currently in the market for a reliable door contact sensor and I’m hoping to get some recommendations from the community.
I’ve been using INSTEON sensors for a while now, but I’ve noticed they have a bit of a slow response time. This has caused some issues, especially when I quickly open and close the door—OpenHAB sometimes misses the state change entirely. I’ve tested this both on the bench and in my actual setup, and the problem persists.
Here’s what I’m looking for in a sensor:
- Response time under 0.5 seconds
- Reliable state detection even with rapid open/close actions
- Compatibility with Z-Wave
I’ve been researching Z-Wave options, but I’d love to hear firsthand experiences from anyone who’s had success with specific models. Have you found a sensor that handles quick state changes seamlessly? Any tips or brand recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
