Seeking Solutions for Remote Access and Automation Issues

Hey everyone, I’m reaching out to the community for some advice on a couple of issues I’ve been facing with my smart home setup. First, I want to say how grateful I am for this forum—it’s been such a valuable resource for me as I navigate the world of home automation. Now, onto my questions!

I’ve been having trouble with the Remote Access feature on my Vera system. It seems to work for a few days, and then it just stops responding. I’ve tried disabling and re-enabling the setting, but the fix is only temporary. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this permanently? I’m using Vera2, so I’m wondering if there’s a firmware update or a specific setting I might be missing.

Another issue I’ve come across is with my Zigbee power meter. It’s connected to a fridge, and I’ve noticed that whenever the fridge starts up, the power sensor registers a false peak. This is causing some inaccuracies in my energy calculations. I’ve tried using the Riemann sum integral helper, but it’s still adding up those false peaks. Is there a way to set a threshold so that any power reading above a certain level is ignored? I’d really appreciate any suggestions on this!

On a lighter note, I thought I’d share a little DIY project I recently completed. I set up a glide system in my hallway, and it’s been a game-changer for how I manage lighting. I put together a simple automation that adjusts the brightness based on motion detection, and it’s been working beautifully. I’d love to hear if anyone else has experimented with similar setups or has any tips to enhance it further.

Lastly, I’m curious about how others handle automation reliability. I’ve set up a rule to turn on my TV when my computer boots up, but occasionally, it ends up turning the TV off instead. It’s a bit perplexing since the automation doesn’t explicitly include a turn-off command. Has anyone experienced something similar or has advice on troubleshooting this?

I’m really looking forward to hearing from the community. Whether it’s solutions to my problems or just sharing experiences, it’s always inspiring to see how others approach these challenges. Thanks in advance for your insights and support!
