Hello everyone,
I wanted to share my recent experiences with integrating sensors and automations into my smart home setup. It’s been an exciting journey filled with both successes and learning curves.
First, I started with Smart Implant sensors to monitor soil humidity and control watering selectively. It was working perfectly until recently when some sensors connected to a DHT22 stopped updating every 4 hours. After extensive troubleshooting and restoring backups, the issue persists. I’m curious if anyone else has encountered this or has insights on potential fixes.
Next, I explored automating my washing machine using a smart plug. By monitoring current draw, I created a system that notifies me when the cycle finishes. This involved setting up an input_boolean helper and two automations. The setup works well, but I’m considering adding conditions to reduce unnecessary triggers. If anyone has tips or improvements, I’d love to hear them!
Another area I’m diving into is motion sensor videos. I’ve noticed that while rules can trigger video uploads and notifications, sensor videos themselves don’t send push notifications. This inconsistency is a bit frustrating. I’m hoping for future updates that would unify these notifications for a seamless experience.
In terms of tips, I highly recommend starting with a clear plan and gradually expanding your setup. Documenting each step and testing thoroughly helps in troubleshooting. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for advice—it’s been invaluable for me.
Thank you for reading, and I look forward to hearing your experiences and suggestions!
Best regards,
