Setting Temperature Limits on My Smart Thermostat

I recently upgraded to a third-generation Learning Thermostat and I’m excited about its potential. I came across online instructions that mentioned setting temperature limits for heating and cooling modes, which I thought would be a great way to prevent renters from adjusting the temperature too drastically.

I followed the steps for cooling mode, set a pin, and defined the temperature range. It seemed straightforward, but when I moved to heating mode, I noticed that the temperature range I set for cooling was still in place. I tried setting new temperatures for heating, but I’m unsure if they’re being saved properly.

I reached out to Google support, and the representative mentioned that I couldn’t set max and min temperatures as I understood from the online instructions. Instead, they suggested creating a schedule, which didn’t make much sense to me. I’m hoping the community can shed some light on this.

Is there a way to set separate temperature limits for heating and cooling without relying on a schedule? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
