Hi everyone, I’m excited to share my recent project of setting up a smart alarm system at home. Our furry friends, a couple of dogs and cats, made me think carefully about the best approach. Motion sensors were out of the question due to their playful nature, so I decided to go with window and door contacts instead.
I set up contacts on all doors and windows, thinking that any change in their state would trigger the alarm. However, I quickly realized that the system wasn’t as straightforward as I hoped. In Pro Mode, the alarm only activates if all sensors are closed, which isn’t practical since doors are constantly opening and closing. Basic Mode allowed me to arm the system regardless of the sensor states, but it didn’t trigger the alarm when a door or window changed from open to closed. Instead, it only registered the transition from closed to open.
I’m curious if there’s a way to optimize this behavior. Maybe there’s a setting or workaround that makes the alarm responsive to both transitions. I’d love to hear your experiences or tips on how to make this system work seamlessly with pets around. Thanks in advance for your insights!
