Shelly 1 Troubleshooting: My Journey to Fixing It

Recently, I encountered an issue with my Shelly 1 device. It stopped connecting to my Wi-Fi network, and I couldn’t get it to work even after resetting it multiple times. At first, I was a bit frustrated because I rely on this device for automating my lights. However, I decided to approach the problem methodically.

First, I checked the basics: ensuring the device was powered correctly and that my Wi-Fi network was stable. I also verified that the firmware was up to date. After confirming these, I tried resetting the device to factory settings and reconfiguring it through the Shelly app. Unfortunately, this didn’t resolve the issue.

I then reached out to the community forums and found that others had experienced similar problems. One user suggested checking the device’s MAC address to ensure it wasn’t being blocked by my router’s firewall. After reviewing my router settings, I discovered that the Shelly 1’s MAC address had indeed been inadvertently added to the blocked list during a previous network security update.

Once I removed the MAC address from the blocked list, the Shelly 1 connected seamlessly to my network. It was a simple fix, but it took some digging to identify the root cause. This experience taught me the importance of checking both the device and the network settings when troubleshooting connectivity issues.

I’m relieved to have my Shelly 1 back up and running. It’s a great reminder that even when things seem complicated, breaking the problem down into smaller parts can lead to a solution. I hope this helps anyone else who might be experiencing similar issues with their Shelly devices!
