Hi all,
I wanted to share my recent experience with resetting the firmware on my Shelly 1PM device. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m happy to say I figured it out!
I started with Tasmota firmware, experimenting with the Deep Sleep mode and everything. It was fascinating to see what this little device could do. But then I wanted to go back to the original firmware. I had heard great things about it, and I wanted to explore more features that might not be available on Tasmota.
The challenge began when I tried to flash the original firmware back onto the device. I followed the instructions I found online, but nothing seemed to work. I tried using Tasmotizer with the firmware ZIP file, but no matter which binary I selected, the device wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi after the flash. I also attempted OTA updates, but I kept getting a ‘File not found’ error. It was frustrating to say the least.
I reached out to the community here for help, and the advice I received was invaluable. Someone suggested checking the firmware version compatibility and ensuring I was using the correct flashing tool. After some trial and error, I finally found a method that worked!
Here’s what I did:
- I downloaded the correct firmware ZIP file from the official Shelly forums.
- I used the Tasmotizer tool, making sure to select the right binary file from the ZIP.
- I powered the device using a CP2102 USB-to-serial converter.
- I followed the flashing instructions carefully, ensuring the device was in the correct mode.
After a few attempts, it worked! The Shelly 1PM is now running the original firmware, and it’s working perfectly. I’m so relieved and happy to have this device back up and running. It’s a great reminder of how helpful this community is.
I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is going through the same thing. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work on the first try—it’s all about persistence and getting the right information.
Happy tinkering!
Best regards,
Sebastian
