Hi everyone, I’ve been having some trouble connecting my Shelly EM device to my SmartThings app. I’ve been using Shelly devices for a while now, and they’ve been working great, so this issue is a bit frustrating. Let me walk you through what I’ve experienced and how I managed to fix it.First, I’ll explain the setup. I have a Shelly 1PM that I’ve been using for tracking my solar energy production, and it’s been working without any issues. Now, I wanted to add a Shelly EM to track the power consumption on a specific phase. The problem started when I tried to connect the Shelly EM to my app.The signal strength between the Shelly EM and my router is excellent, so that’s not the issue. I followed the standard procedure: creating a new room in the app, selecting the router, entering the password, and then choosing the Shelly EM from the list. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I hit a snag. The app kept asking for permission to toggle the Wi-Fi connection multiple times, which was annoying. Eventually, I got an error message, and the device didn’t show up in the room I created.I retried the process several times, and sometimes it seemed to work— the Shelly EM would show up in the device list, but when I checked the room, it still wasn’t there. This was really confusing. I even had to reset the Shelly EM multiple times, which was a hassle. After a lot of trial and error, I finally figured out a solution. I realized that the problem might be with how the device was being added to the room. Instead of selecting the Shelly EM from the device list and trying to include it, I decided to let the app discover the device automatically. I reset the Shelly EM again, waited for it to appear in the device list, and then manually added it to the room. This time, it worked perfectly!I wanted to share this experience in case anyone else is having similar issues. Sometimes, the simplest solution is the one that works. I’m really happy that I was able to get this sorted out without too much trouble. If anyone else is struggling with Shelly device connections, feel free to reach out, and I’ll do my best to help. Thanks for reading, and happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
