Shelly Integration and Motion Detection Setup

I’ve been diving into integrating my Shelly devices with Home Assistant, and it’s been a fascinating journey. I recently installed a Shelly Plus 2PM for my office roller blind, and while it works perfectly, there’s one quirky issue I’ve encountered. Whenever I stop the blind mid-motion, my PC monitor flickers—something I didn’t expect from a smart device. It’s a minor inconvenience, but I’m curious if others have faced similar issues or have any insights.

On another note, I’ve been exploring the automation capabilities within Home Assistant. Setting up motion detection with my Wyze cameras has been a breeze, and I love how it seamlessly integrates with my smart lights. I’ve even managed to create profiles that switch between security-focused and automation-focused modes, which is incredibly handy. For instance, when I’m away, theAway profile ensures all lights are on vacation mode and cameras start recording at the slightest motion. At home, theHome profile focuses on convenience, like turning on lights when I enter a room without unnecessary camera activity.

One feature I’ve been longing for is the ability to use time-based conditions in Lovelace. While there isn’t a direct option, I’ve found a workaround by using templates and custom cards. It’s a bit of a hack, but it gets the job done. I’d love to hear if others have more elegant solutions for this.

Overall, the journey has been rewarding. The satisfaction of seeing everything work together smoothly is unparalleled. I’m excited to continue exploring and optimizing my setup. If anyone has tips or tricks for improving their smart home setup, I’d love to hear them!
