Shelly Plug S Troubleshooting and Solution

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a little story about my recent experience with the Shelly Plug S. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I think I’ve figured it out, and I hope this helps someone else who might be going through the same thing.

So, I recently purchased two Shelly Plug S devices to replace some old-school timers for my mom. The first one was a breeze to set up—worked perfectly right out of the box. But the second one was a different story. After setting it up, I moved it to its designated spot, and it just… died. No lights, no connection, nothing. I was puzzled. I checked the outlet, tried resetting it, even held the button for 10 seconds as the instructions suggested. Still nothing.

I started to think maybe it was defective, but before I gave up, I decided to try one last thing. I took it back to where I had initially set it up, just to see if it would work there. And guess what? It did! The plug sprang back to life. So, it wasn’t a dead unit after all. It was just being fussy about its location.

After some research, I found out that the Shelly Plug S can sometimes have issues with certain electrical setups, especially if there’s interference or if the outlet isn’t providing a stable connection. So, I moved it to a different outlet, away from any potential sources of interference, and it’s been working like a charm ever since.

This experience taught me the importance of testing devices in different environments and not jumping to conclusions too quickly. If you’re having issues with your Shelly Plug S, give it a new spot and see if that makes a difference. It might just be a simple fix!

Happy tinkering everyone, and if you have any other tips or experiences with Shelly devices, I’d love to hear them!
