Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Shelly Plus 1PM and how I managed to use it solely as a current monitor for my EDV equipment. I’ve always been cautious about having devices that can be accidentally switched off, especially when it comes to critical systems. So, my goal was to ensure the Shelly Plus 1PM could measure current without the risk of unintended power cuts.
Initially, I considered using the Shelly Mini, but it didn’t integrate well with my existing setup. After some research, I found that simply disconnecting the load from the live or neutral wire wasn’t a reliable solution. It either affected the current measurement or introduced instability in the system.
What worked for me was using a relay module to isolate the Shelly Plus 1PM’s control circuit from the actual load. This way, the device can monitor the current without any risk of switching off the equipment. The setup required a bit of wiring, but it was worth it for the peace of mind.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has other innovative ways to use the Shelly Plus 1PM. Feel free to share your experiences or tips below! ![]()
