Siri Shortcuts: How I Mastered Grouping Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Devices

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a really cool hack I figured out recently. I’ve been using Govee Siri Shortcuts for a while now, but there was always this one limitation that bugged me. You know how you could only use one device per command? Well, I cracked the code!

The Problem

I had a mix of Bluetooth-only devices and Wi-Fi devices in my bedroom. The issue was that I couldn’t get them to work together in a single command. It was super frustrating because I wanted to set off a rainbow light show across all my devices with just one voice command.

The Solution

Here’s how I did it:

  1. Identify Your Devices: List out all your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices. I used my Govee bulbs and some other smart lights.
  2. Create a Custom Shortcut: Go into Siri Shortcuts on your iPhone. I named mine “Bedroom Rainbow”.
  3. Add Actions: For each device, add a separate action. I used the Govee app integration to control my bulbs and regular HomeKit actions for the others.
  4. Test and Adjust: Start with a few devices and see how it goes. I had to tweak the timing a bit to make sure everything synced up.

The Result

Now, when I say, “Hey Siri, Bedroom Rainbow”, all my lights—both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi—start dancing in a beautiful rainbow sequence! It’s such a mood booster, especially in the evenings.

Tips for Success

  • Pair Devices First: Make sure all your devices are properly paired with your hub or directly with your phone.
  • Use Compatible Apps: The Govee app was key for me. It has great integration with Siri Shortcuts.
  • Keep It Simple: Don’t overload your shortcut with too many devices at once. Start small and build up.

I hope this helps someone else out there who’s been struggling with the same issue. Let me know if you have any questions or if you’ve found other cool ways to combine devices! :rainbow::sparkles:
