Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience setting up smart cameras and automations in my home. I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and they’ve been a great addition to my security setup. However, I recently ran into an issue with my Wyze Cam Pan v3 where it was only recording very short clips, which wasn’t ideal for monitoring my pets. After some research and tweaking, I found that adjusting the motion sensitivity settings and ensuring the camera was placed optimally made a big difference. Now, it reliably captures longer clips when activity is detected, which has been a huge help!
On the automation front, I’ve been experimenting with setting up routines using my Zigbee2MQTT setup. I added a SONOFF SNZB04 contact sensor, but initially, it wasn’t reporting battery levels or completing the interview process. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that resetting the sensor and ensuring it was within range of my Zigbee coordinator solved the issue. It’s now seamlessly integrated into my system, providing reliable updates on door and window status.
I’d love to hear from others about their experiences with camera setups and sensor integrations. Have you found any particular settings or configurations that work exceptionally well? Also, if anyone has tips on optimizing camera recording durations or improving automation reliability, I’d be grateful to hear them!
Happy automating everyone! ![]()
