Smart Coffee Maker Automation: A Creative Solution

Hey everyone, I’ve been brainstorming a fun way to integrate my coffee maker into my smart home setup. Here’s the deal: I’ve always been a bit hesitant to automate my coffee maker because I don’t want it to turn on if I forget to add water. But then I thought, why not use a moisture sensor to monitor the water tank? That way, the coffee maker only starts brewing if there’s water available.

Here’s how I envision it working:

  • A probe in the water tank detects moisture.
  • If moisture is detected, the coffee maker starts brewing.
  • Once the tank is empty, I’d get an alert—maybe through text, Sonos, or VLC—to let me know the coffee is ready.
  • To keep things energy-efficient, I’d use the Power Allowance app to automatically turn off the machine a few hours later.

I’m curious if anyone has experience with similar setups or knows of apps that could handle this seamlessly. It would be awesome to make my morning routine even smarter without the risk of running out of water! :tada:
